Allama Muhammad Iqbal

Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal was the poet-philosopher of the India  Subcontinent before the birth of Pakistan. He was born at Sialkot on November 9,1876. He belonged to a middle-class family. Young Iqbal was first educated at a local school. He became proficient in Arabic and Persian. Iqbal went to the U.K for higher studies. He was called to the bar. He got his Ph.D. degree from Munich on the basis of his learned thesis. Iqbal gave himself  up to poetry


.He tried to translate philosophy into verses medium of expression was Urdu and Persian. Iqbal's early poetry deals with the love of nature like Wordsworth and the love of his country. Iqbal turned to politics as well, to serve his people. Iqbal was first to conceive the dream of Pakistan.   He foresaw the division of India He touched and stirred the common man with his musical verses He passed away on  April 21, 1938, before the birth of Pakistan. His death was mourned by the entire Muslim world. Iqbal is a  guide for all time.
